Calor gas Provençal fire

We need to replace our very elderly mobile gas cylinder fire and I am tempted by the above one.
But it’s cast iron and weighs 34kg without the cylinder so 64kg with a full gas cylinder. It’s on wheels but I am still a bit concerned about the weight.
We live off shore so can’t see one in real life. Has anyone got one that I can chat about?

We have one for our porch. I love it.

@lemontova
Ooh is it really heavy to move if you need to?
Our old fire can be lifted onto the hearth so it’s protected by the surround fire guard when dgc are here but I am thinking that the Provençal will be too heavy. But it’s so lovely I might be willing to work around that.

It’s not crazy heavy, my partner moves it because I am lazy. There are wheels so you can tilt it and push which helps, or you can always move it into position then put the gas canister back in if that’s easier? Ours is the chestnut colour one, it looks ace and really takes the chill off!

Thank you for talking with me I think I will order it before the cold really starts.

good choice! If you want to feel 100% confident, pick up an adult of approx same weight eg about 10 stone, for a second and put them down again. This is as much as you should need to lift, depending on what your hearth is like and if there’s a high lip round the edge maybe not even that. Only downside with ours is that the cat loves it too so I can never get a turn on the comfy seat beside it.

Yes, it's good looks nice and quite easy to put the cylinder in. And we lift it up on to a hearth in the ingle nook. Got it 5 years ago for temporary but for one reason and another it ended up being important for longer. Was as these things go not too expensive to run but hey ho the cost has probably gone up I tandem with comparables

Just trying to find someone who will deliver offshore.
If not I will have to have it delivered to a freight company who will bring it here.
But I have made my mind up to have one and not make do with one I don’t like so much.
Our old one must be about 20 years old.

Sorted. Thank you all. Company will deliver with FedEx and normally they deliver free to uk. So they have said they will reduce the Fedex price to reflect that!

Exciting! Make sure you have a canister ready to fire it up, can’t remember if ours came with fuel or if we had to get one from the local depot.

We do have a blue 15kg canister and the company say that will fit. Then we can take our very elderly calor fire to the tip. I really would t be happy to give it to anyone else as it’s very cranky.
