Anyone got one? Would love to see real photos rather than the ones on their website. I need to put in a new kitchen so we can sell up as we have to relocate (DH already working away so we are paying mortgage plus rent for him and it's crippling)

If your selling the house straight after putting in a new kitchen i wouldnt bother as the buyers might hate your brand new kitchen and just rip it back out and chuck it i would price your house a few grand less to reflect needs a new kitchen and save the hassle

I agree with PP. You won't make that money back.

I agree, I bought a house where they just put in a kitchen. It was not to my style but felt i couldn't justify ripping it out. I would have preferred to be able to choose my own.

Unfortunately we do have to put a kitchen in as we ripped out the previous one and people can't get a mortgage on a house without a kitchen. So we have picked this one as it is cheap. We fully expect it to be ripped out as we are waiting on planning permission to extend the kitchen into the garage but we no longer have the money to do this and have to relocate.

Have you thought about DIY Kitchens? They're way cheaper than Howdens and the same quality - I wouldn't spend a penny more than you have to if you're selling up!

Ok if you have to put a kitchen in considered a kitchen for mortgage purposes is a sink look at ebay of people taking out a decent kitchen and selling the one they are removing, maybe put in free standing units look at ex display kitchens cheap laminate worktops its not worth spending say 3 thousand on a basic kitchen

emanonsah · 14/10/2022 13:06

All good things to think about, thanks. Our builder is being really nice and allowing us to pay the cost price of Howdens rather than a marked up price so hopefully cheaper than diy kitchens but will get a quote from them too

And search ebay!

Yes it is a good choice as it is plain and neutral and buyers will be able to get more units/re-use in a future extension even if they choose different doors.
If the house is more modern you could choose the flat matt slab - Greenwich?
Worktops etc should be white laminate or light wood with tidy chrome fittings not black taps or anything odd.
Sheet vinyl flooring if well chosen will look more expensive than it is.

Agreed DIY kitchens may be cheaper for the same thing but do your buyer a favour and leave the details so they don't have to play detective.

I would def have a look at DIY Kitchens - I believe that even with getting Howdens at cost price DIY Kitchens will be quite a bit cheaper. Their prices are unbelievable and the reviews from people on here have been really good. We’re going to use them.
