OVER floor insulation

This maybe a stupid question. I have a 1930s semi. I am trying to insulate where I can. I have a new boiler, new rads, insulated the ceiling in the bathroom and of course the loft. The walls are solid.

It has a suspended ground floor, being mindful of keeping the airbricks and airflow going. Is it possible to get slim insulation board that I can place between the floorboards and the new carpet/underlay for the downstairs? Thanks.

you can get boards but you would then have to plane a bit off the bottom of your doors so they could open & close.

What about the foil floor insulation type they use under laminate? that’s thinner, could be stapled to the floor with a staple gun & is really thin so you wouldn’t have to do anything to the doors.

Fabulous, thank you! My house is being updated so I'm looking for a solution that doesn't interfere with the airflow. This could work.

You can get thermal underlay. We have thick wool stuff and it is brilliant.

Thanks, good to consider.

The underlay itself comes in varying thickness and with insulating backings, that might well be enough and would save the extra fitting costs for a seperate insulation board.
