What would you think about a property for sale with this sold history?! Red flag or just...one of those things?

Wouldn't concern me at all.

ChicCroissant · 28/09/2022 13:22

Might have been a remortgage but that is a lot of sales, is it a typical FTB property?

Sophieagain1984 · 28/09/2022 13:24

Depends on the property- is it a starter flat or a family house?

ZenNudist · 28/09/2022 13:25

I'd assume a FTB property so not concerning

Meadowbreeze · 28/09/2022 13:48

Not that concerning. Doesn't look like they're trying to make money out of the sale. Possibly over mortgaged themselves and are trying to get out asap.
I'd make sure there's no neighbour issues.

Mushroo · 28/09/2022 13:50

family Home concerning, starter home absolutely
fine

FluSue · 28/09/2022 13:51

It would depend on the property. If it was a typical first time buyer home I wouldn't be unduly concerned. If it wasn't I'd probably start very discretely checking out the neighbours, finding out if any of the houses were HMOs, and trying to work out if there was any reported anti-social behaviour locally; when I was last buying a house there was a local government website on which you could check such things.

Have you asked why they are selling?

worriedniece · 28/09/2022 15:13

I would ask the neighbours why is is up for sale again in the same year it was bought! That's very weird.

LozMarieFielder · 28/09/2022 16:09

Not unless it's also been listed a couple of times. Check Zoopla.

Oh I missed that bit! Yes, would want to know the back story although could be genuine (lost their job, need to relocate for family reasons etc).

I assumed that the OP wants to sell (just bought the property) and wants to know if it will put people off. Less than a year in the property is always a bit of a red flag but it could have been remortgaged. We had a neighbour that remortgaged her house a couple of times and that always seemed to show up on property records.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 28/09/2022 17:33

Is it in a commuter belt? Or a town with high levels of staff turnover? I’m guessing the latest sale is probably due to either being unable to afford payments/neighbours/relationship breakdown.

Ewarty · 28/09/2022 19:01

It's definitely not a FTB sort of home, it's a detatched period property - and no, not mine! Just one I came across while browsing, it definitely puts me off as I think there must be a reason it's changed hands so many times.

Absolutely a red flag. Why would anyone who bought a property in 2022 be selling it almost immediately for less than they bought it for?

dudsville · 28/09/2022 20:34

I would be concerned, but further to a previous comment, my preview house shows two purchases, 1 when i bought with my husband and the next when I remortgaged to buy my exh out of the property!

cammera · 29/09/2022 08:02

Slight concern - as others have said I'd want to investigate why but could be perfectly innocent explanation. - a few years ago my sister bought a flat in the February with her partner and then they split up in the May so it was sold again in October. Alternatively it could have been bought by someone with a view to improving but who has realised that its too costly so looking to offload it again before prices crash

AdmiralJaneway · 01/10/2022 04:33

Interestingly my own house has a similar history. It’s in a very popular area with quick sales. A couple of possible issues are that the house can get quite cold (working on that one) and my neighbours have two very large vans on the road either side of my drive which can make parking really difficult - may have irritated some people too far! I can live with that and am making the place my own! Basically it was a bit worrying when I bought it but can find no real reason for it

I would find it weird but it may not be bad eg job relocation, lotto win.
