Pics attached is this enough to kill the mould/mildew?

I have mould/mildew patches on the back of MDF boards on wardrobes so I applied neat white vinegar and wiped with warm water after 1 hour but the patches still remain. My husband says it won't remove the patches as seen in the pics but the vinegar will have killed the mould.
Is this enough to have killed off the spores on the MDF board and ready to paint with a sealant? Any help greatly appreciated thanks

You need a bottle of mould and mildew spray. You can pick it up in Poundland. It smells very strong so use in a well ventilated area.

Yes you need mould spray but if its ingrained would it be easier to replace the piece of MDF

What if I painted over the top of it when it's dry?! 😬

Is that on the inside or the outside, because if it's the outside you need to sort out the wall it is against

Yes specific mould cleaner, then anti mould paint

Try HG mould removing foam (foam not spray). It’s amazing

It's on the outside of the wardrobes.
We've sorted the wall as we've made it warm from a cold wall but insulating it with plasterboard and insulating board and insulating wallpaper on top of that 😁
Just need to sort the furniture else it will all be for nothing

Get a couple of those cheap dehumidifier things Wilko etc ,pop each side of the wardrobes.

Skelligsfeathers · 25/09/2022 09:23

What colour should that be?

I would completely remove the panel and replace it and before you replace it cover it with sticky back plastic - you can buy it fablon etc cheaply from Amazon. Then it won’t get mouldy again. (We had all this with our house a while back).

Are they fitted wardrobes? If so, they are a bugger for mould growth, especially if against an external wall, as the air circulation is poor. Vinegar is unlikely to kill mould, in fact it could possibly provide a food source for further growth. It's also really difficult to remove the staining, even if you kill the living mould. I would replace the panel, if possible.
