Tile paint

If you have painted your kitchen tiles could you please let me know what you think of the finish and durability please? Also what specific paint did you use?

We will replace the kitchen eventually but right now I’ve lived with the hideous mottled beige marble tiles for long enough!

i painted my kitchen tiles, used ronseal and its lasted very well
if you do do it then i recommend you use a small roller, much easier than a brush and no brush strokes show

@chipsandpeas thanks, I have heard Ronseal is good. What prep did you do? I think it’s usually a good scrub with sugar soap?

I’ve used tile paint in the bathroom. It’s been 6 months and it looks great. Much better than mottled beige, which we also had! We used the brand b&q sell, I think it’s called v27 or similar? GreY.

I painted over tiles that had been previously painted using B&Q's own brand tile paint. Stood up to being scrubbing down, water splashes from sink etc. You could tell it was painted, but didn't look bad - but of course with me it had at least two lots of paint on by then too.

If you hate what you have now, I'd certainly go for it. Agree with using a small, good quality roller too.

I've used V33 from B&Q - it took 3 or 4 coats to cover grey tiles & brown grout with white paint. It's only been on a few months and so far I've not had to scrub it so can't comment on durability. These videos were really helpful

Prior to that I tried Bedec Multi Surface
www.toolstation.com/bedec-multi-surface-paint/p34965
which did not adhere even after the trial tile was sanded & cleaned with IIRC white spirit before application - easily cleaned off after allowing a week or two to cure.

Hope your renovations go well!

@Anywhereelse what paint brand did you go for in the end? And did it work well?

We used little greene intelligent satin. Bought the undercoat in same colour also. It’s on our tiles in under stairs toilet. 2 years on it hasn’t come off and no brush marks
