Hi

I want a rug for our kitchen floor as it is freezing. Got two young children and DH is dead against it as he reckons then will slip on it or trip over onto tiled floor.

any suggestions for what you’ve actually bought and worked well gratefully received!

I've got the Parker from Dunelm runner in my kitchen and a big square version of it in family room attached. Runner needs a non slip mat underneath. Never tripped over it

It thought about a Ruggable washable thing ne but they are so expensive

I used a sturdy cotton dhurry rug, which helped a lot and is washable. Eventually I changed the floor from ceramic tiles to LVT. That has made an enormous difference.

Can't find the brand of mine but its a machine washable rug with latex backing so that it doesn't ruck up. Never tripped on it.

I use a large Turtle Mat, bought when on offer, in front of where the hob is to help with a cold floor. They are backed with a non slip backing and are machine washable. Best dried in the tumble drier as it fluffs them back up

They are, but I am super happy with mine.

I bought a large rag rug made from pale blue denims in John Lewis a few years back, which I had intended to use in the summer house but it ended up under the kitchen table in the winter.
I also got a smaller one which goes near the kettle/cooker bit I stand on most.

They are machine washable (& could be tumble dried if the weather is bad). even the larger one fits in my machine so food spills aren't the end of the world.

Only issue I get is my hoovering/mopping robot likes to grab hold of the edges, so I've to some of that grippy rubber stuff to put under the rugs so they stay in place.

A very large jute rug from Dunelm with an anti-slip mat underneath. Looks lovely and is very easy to vacuum. Paired with a hessian table runner and wicker baskets I think it looks great and very warm on the feet.

We had a quarry tiled floor. When DD started toddling I had cushion floor laid over it.

Just wear slippers? Surely the point of hard floors in the kitchen is how easy it is to keep clean otherwise people would have carpets which ime are very rare.

I have a rug from French Connection but only where the sofas are in the kitchen. It has a nonslip mat underneath from Dunelm so never moves.

Thanks. What’s a dhurry rug?

I have just normal rugs from fb marketplace, I Hoover them regularly and we have a carpet cleaner so spot cleaned if something is dropped on them. Not got them back out the garage yet for the winter.
