New kitchen for extension nearly finished and need to decide on a ceramic or induction hob. Gas isn't an option and other than reading pros and cons on Which I know nothing about induction hobs.
Would love to hear any pros and cons or tips on cooking with induction please, how different is it?

Hi - I love my induction hob, fast, responsive, and say to clean . We had Gas before. I much prefer the induction hob.

Very easy to cook on an induction hob. Easy to get the perfect cooking temp and
Energy efficient. Will only work if the pan is placed on the hob and as soon as it's taken off will switch off. Easy to keep clean. I would definitely recommend an induction job. You would need induction compatible pans though...

Induction. But get a good quality one.

I get that there is only a small chance that this applies to you but induction jobs aren’t safe for people who wear medical devices like insulin pumps or pacemakers (the magnets cause issues). I have one of those and only found out just as I was about to order an induction hob. If neither of those apply to you or anybody in your household then I’d go induction as everyone I know who has one loves it.

Agree with previous posters, we only recently got our induction hob, had gas prior to that, and I love it, fast to reach temp, so easy to keep clean and goes off as soon as you take the pot off, you do need pot and pans that are compatible, I had already had ones that were suitable for both so didn't need to buy too many new ones. I love it OP

It’s a no brainer to get induction over ceramic. Ceramic will seem very slow by comparison. My induction has numerous sizes for pans, a timer, boost on all rings for really rapid heating and it’s perfect after 12 years. It’s a Miele. I have decent s/s pans and a few non stick ones. All are perfect. They are only John Lewis ones but they will last forever.

Another vote for induction

Induction…ceramic is really slow and unresponsive. Induction easy to clean, responsive etc. get a decent one though. We’ve got a neff. It’s a bit beepy. If I was doing it again I’d get one with actual dials rather than pressing a display.

When we did a partial kitchen makeover, I went from gas to ceramic just because I liked the streamline look and ceramic was cheaper than induction. All was fine, it was ok, took a bit of getting used to but fine.

Did a full extension a couple of years later and got an induction. It's like comparing apples and pears - induction is way faster, easier to control, just x10 better.

If you can, stretch to induction.
