Question about chasing Estate agent

Hi everyone,

we are weeks into our purchase, Chain of 3 houses - we have completed everything we need to our side, and sellers we are buying off, solicitors have confirmed this. We were told by our solicitors a week or so ago that enquiries at top of chain should be sorted now so just waiting for feedback on dates, we then had an email from the Estate agents this week to say the top of chain has a few enquiries and the property also has quite a lot of surrounding land some of which is being retained by current owners & some being sold with property, I went back and asked about land registry etc and said that is sounds like a complicated issue that could drag out this whole process, she then came back & said its nothing to do with land registry & each plot of land is under its own title already its only that the buyers solicitor has a lot of info & paperwork to review so they need to make sure that the correct titles are included in the sale.

the solicitors have confirmed they don't get involved with the top of chain, only until the very end, so now our only point of contact on this is- the Estate Agent really, my question is i know timescale is 8-12 we are only 10 weeks in we were told we should be in by sept latest but if nothing progresses by next week, how do I put pressure on this to get things looked at quicker?

the house we are buying off did sell in March but it fell through, we then stepped in, so I'm not sure if the top of the chain were the same sellers selling at that point if so I am not clear how it would have taken from March until now for enquiries & such to still be floating about

I'm new to this house buying stuff, sorry if I haven't explained things very clear just trying to get my head around right way to go about things

thank you

I’m sure someone else with better knowledge will come on. But to me ( in my limited knowledge of buying and selling houses ) this could drag on for months or just a few weeks. If everything is in order it will take a few weeks. If not. Finding paperwork and getting the relevant information could take months.

This is why when people on here ask how long is it to buy and sell a house the answer is always how long is a piece of string as u never know what is going to be thrown up. I’m sorry. But I could be in for a long wait.

It also depends on how quick the solicitor is. I have moved house lots and have done it a few times where the solicitor only works a few days a week and they had no cover.

@Paranoidandroidmarvin Thank you, that's what I am thinking, and when the EA leaves it a week in-between checking in with them, I feel like that is to long.. they need to be chased more frequent than that

If you want the EA to chase frequently you need to be calling them frequently to remind them to.
