Could you live in a property that border's this road? NOT 1 BUT 2 VIDEOS INCLUDED!!!

These two videos are REALLY boring!!! But if you don't mind wasting 15 mins of your life, I'd really appreciate your opinion.
There are half a dozen properties on the other side of that hedge & fence, which border the road. They are about 1 metre above the road level, and there is no access on and off the road.
The location is near the coast so more traffic during summer. (I filmed the video yesterday).
The road is an A road, but with a 30mph limit through that section.
The first video was filmed at 1:30pm and the second at 4pm. They were filmed at the same location but on opposite sides of the road, and opposite directions.
Please ignore my horrible VoiceOver towards the end. I'm disabled and speak terribly.

PS: The property I'm interested in is one of the ones that unfortunately border that road, aka just on the other side of that hedge and fence.

  1. 1:30pm Video

  2. 4pm Video

NB: The first video starts quietly but gets busier later on in video.

I couldn't but then I'm very sensitive to traffic noise having always lived in cul-de-sacs. I'm fine with trains though!

BringMeTea · 15/09/2022 11:22

Wouldn't worry me but traffic noise is a personal thing. I have misophonia but traffic isn't a trigger sound so I could live with it. Your voice is perfectly pleasant btw.

strawberryjem · 15/09/2022 11:28

I wouldn't have a problem with it. I have lived on busier roads and actually find traffic noise quite comforting.

tottielottie · 15/09/2022 11:36

It wouldn't bother me!

INeedNewShoes · 15/09/2022 12:14

How near the coast?

If it's within walking distance to a beach it could be really annoying in the summer.

Aw! you're just saying that to be nice. But thank you anyway 😊

To be fair you aren't going to be living on the pavement so the hedging and being further back will muffle some of the noise .
Road noise doesn't bother me at all but intermittent noise like flight path or station announcements would .

NellyBarney · 15/09/2022 20:25

Have you been inside the house? Can you hear the road noise inside? Is it loud inside the garden, especially if there is a patio? In our house, I can hear the cars when I am at the front, but the rooms at the back are quiet, and so is the garden behind the house. I am waiting for secondary glazing to be installed, to muffle the noise in the road facing rooms, but it doesn't bother me too much. It looks like you have a pavement. A house directly on a busy road without a pavement would be difficult for me, as too dangerous to walk anywhere.

CookieDoughKid · 15/09/2022 22:56

Film again inside the house with windows open then shut. See how you feel then.

MrHowYaDoing · 16/09/2022 00:00

Thank you all. On hindsight I should have done what some of you suggest, I.E. also video inside and in the garden to record noise levels.
Regardless of noise… If okay with the seller, taking a video while viewing a property is a great idea. Cos you tend to forget details after the viewing, so it would be a great memory refresher. Especially if viewing several properties in a short time period.

Pixiedust1234 · 16/09/2022 00:27

I didn't watch the videos in their entirety but your first video made me wonder what you meant by traffic noise 😆 your second video did have more cars but all roads are busier at that time anyway, its late school run/early work finish time.

Its best inside the house and garden as that is where you will be spending your time but if you are really bothered by it then I suggest going back at 10am, lunchtime and after 6pm, weekday and weekend. However I have lived near very busy roads and you do get used to it as its a constant noise.

smooththecat · 16/09/2022 00:34

I wouldn’t live on an A road because I find cars stressful, also large trucks etc. can shake the house. Clearly some people are not bothered. Part of me wonders if you would be hyper vigilant about this, just due to the fact you have made detailed videos.

Paranoidandroidmarvin · 16/09/2022 10:16

May not affect u in the winter. But that noise all through the summer with ur windows open!! I wouldn’t. But Every house I choose is because it is on a quiet street

maskersanonymous · 16/09/2022 10:29

I live on an A road... and have no problem with it at all. Our house would have cost almost a third more if it wasn't. I don't really notice the noise anymore. We did have new double glazing though. There is some good info. on the web for planting trees and shrubs to mitigate noise which might help too.

Hoosemover · 16/09/2022 10:38

It troubles you enough to post on a forum . Then I would suggest that this probably not the property for you.

if in doubt,. walk away
