Parking during building work

Hello everyone,
Looking for some advice or ideas from those who have recently done building works.
We are about to start an extension and our drive way will be taken over by a skip for the next few months.
We have single yellow lines around our street with restricted parking during the day for 2 hours.
I guess it depends on the council, but is there an option to buy a temporary parking permit for a few months.
I was also wondering if it is something the builders will need some parking too.
What have other people done in these circumstances?

Thanks very much

Ask the builder what they normally do? We have a garage and allocated space for each house. Neighbours were getting a new kitchen done so put the skip in their allocated space and had to park their car several streets away outside the residential parking zone. No idea what they did with the builders' transport.

If you have nice neighbours, is there the possibility of parking favours? We let our neighbours park on our drive for the restrictions period when they had building work done - we’re on a road with identical restrictions to you. Now we’re having building work done, they have returned the favour for us. That way, we leave our drive free for the builders.

The builders will definitely need parking. Ask them what they’ll do. I find they are often prepared to take a chance on getting ticketed on our road - and to be fair, they rarely do.

Thank you!
We have mentioned it to the builders when they were here few months ago. Will discuss it again
I have written to the council to see if there is an option to buy a permit for a few months
Else will have to see if any neighbours are happy to rent us their drive at for 2 hours everyday when there are restrictions.
I am working from home so could be doing musical chairs with the car!!

the council have emailed back.
We could buy a permit for ourselves and the builders at 60 pounds each per week. Oh dear!
I will tell the builders to sort themselves out. I think they will prefer to take the risk.

Talk to them and see how it goes - it may be that the delays and inconvenience of them not being able to park nearby adds up to more delay than £60 per week would actually cost you.

I get your point @Talipesmum
building works are stressful best of times and the last thing we want is neighbour disputes due to inconsiderate parking from us and builders, parking tickets etc

I am really surprised the builders didn't include the cost in their quote.
As the customer you would be liable for the cost.

Check with the builder, I can't see them footing the cost if they do get a permit.
