What's the property market like where you are at the moment?

We went on the market 3 weeks ago. We had about 15 views in the first week and this resulted in 2 offers - we accepted the highest one obviously. However they haven't sold, so whilst we accepted, we haven't come off the market.

The last 2 weeks we haven't had any viewings Confused the estate agent said things are generally quiet, it's not just our house.

We are South England btw

@LunarC Ive been looking in the SW for a few months and can't find anything. A lot of properties at the lower and of the Market seem to be hanging around and then being reduced and some still not selling.

Are you moving to north or South Devon if you don't mind me asking?

West Berks. Absolutely dead in the water. I’ve had four viewings cancelled this week. It’s been a bit wobbly for a while but this week it seems to have gone to another level. Don’t know if it’s a seasonal blip or something more.

@hedgehogscrossing We have had an offer accepted on a property near Okehampton - we've been under offer for over a year whilst we look for something. Lost 2 buyers as they couldn't wait any longer for us to find something.

Property with land is going quickly but seems to often come back to the market. There's an organic vineyard in Milton Damerel that was under offer back in June and has come back to market - they've optimistically increased the asking price by £40k.

What area are you looking to move to?

LunaDeet · 15/09/2022 16:38

It's really slow here in the East Midlands - so many reductions. However I've just checked the Kent coast where we sold and prices are still increasing!

@LunarC you must feel relived to finally be moving! Im looking in North Devon around Crediton or South Molton. Id like to be in a small town, I don't want too rural.
I hope my budget of 300k ish will go further in these areas too.

Just looked at rightmove . Surprised by how high two houses have been priced, probably £30-50k more than I would have expected. However, only just been added so we’ll see how quickly they sell.

Bonkers in our part of Scotland with property going in a day or two. Then the summer holidays and it’s gone really quiet. Lots of new houses on the market that are stuck with sellers who think they are still going to get £50k + over home report valuation. They clearly think interest rates and the cost of living crisis isn’t anything to do with their property.

We've gone on the market yesterday in Bristol and have four viewings booked in already. But I think that's normal for the first week and doesn't necessarily mean we're home and dry.
Can't find anything I like though :( not for 300K in inner city Bristol. I think I'd be equally happy if we don't get any offers and have to stay put.

I'm in the north east and desperate to buy a bungalow for proper cash. We sold in feb and were lucky to buy an apartment to tide us over. We wanted a single storey bungalow but there's nothing out there for us.

In SW London everything is sold. Pretty much everything showing as 'available' on rightmove is Sold STC but the agents keep them online to create interest. Very frustrating.
The only things left are the very undesirable properties.
