Has anyone used bifold doors for a bedroom and bathroom? Are you happy with them? What would you do differently? Whuch inexpensive door brand would you recommend?
Thanks

I have a bifold door (installed years ago) for both rooms downstairs, i.e. the kitchen and the lounge - the lounge one has clear glass. Can't see why they wouldn't work for a bedroom and a bathroom, although obviously, you wouldn't choose a door with clear glass for those rooms, but if I had to replace the bedroom and bathroom doors, I would prefer a traditional door.

Thanks. Reason for looking at bifold is because of the space. The toilet door opens inwards and is a tight squeeze to get in. Bedroom door opens almost onto the top of the staircase, and we have to close one bedroom door to be able access the bedroom next to it.

Hi @BarbieFoundKen I have just put up a bi folding door in my teeny bathroom due to lack of space. Having a door opening outwards was not an option as my landing is tiny plus I have a louvre door for the airing cupboard.

I read very mixed reviews about them but in the end I couldn,t stand the big door anymore.

I bought a Jeld Wen from Screwfix about 2 weeks ago when they had 10% off.

I fitted it myself and I absolutely love it. I watched Jeld Wen video online and some American You tubes as well, all very helpful.
I totally get the mixed reviews but for me it was more about being able to use the bathroom space better, if I am honest it,s working better than I imagined.

I have only put an undercoat paint on at moment and bought different knobs from Toolstation for when I have finished painting.

I can post some photos tomorrow if you like but you will need to excuse the mess as am doing a lot of work upstairs.

If I was starting over I'd put pocket doors in, so much easier.

The same with my toilet door - it opens inwards and is a bit of a tight squeeze. If I had to change the door, I would probably look at a bifold one too.

Just to update- I worked out measurements with a carpenter, realised that bifold doors are generally shorter than regular bedroom doors. When they fold up, they take over bit over double the thickness of a regular door. So, if you already have a narrow doorway, it gets a bit more constricted. Decided to drop the idea for bifold door for the bedroom- just turned the door around to open the other way around. Bathroom door is a thought for another day
