Can you help me design my living room

Morning all,

I'm hoping someone with an eye for design will have some suggestions for ways to make the room more homey and stylish. We only recently moved in so everything has just been thrown together for now. I'm open to any suggestions/ new furniture/ lights etc

The problem I've come across is that on 3 of the 4 walls there is either a door or the fireplace. My limited skills with interior design make it hard for me to think up creative ways to organise things.

We are 2 adults, 2 dogs, a baby and a part time toddler which explains the clutter a little I hope.

I've included some photos and a sketch floor plan- sorry drawing isn't my forte!

Thank you all for any suggestions!

It looks nice!

How about an area rug? It should either be big enough for all the furniture to fit fully in it or for the front part of all the furniture to fit on it.

I was going to suggest putting the sofa on the window wall but the fireplace is too close to that wall, I think your current layout is good.

I think it looks lovely as it is.

You could put your chair under the window, facing the sofa which would leave the "door wall" free. Would a narrow sideboard or console table then go between the doors? Or a blanket box to hide away child clutter in the evening? Rug and coffee table between the seating. That fireplace is beautiful and should be the focus of the room. The small thingy that the TV is on makes it look.more cluttered...lots of small bits rather than fewer chunky ones tends to do that.

Are all 3 doors used all the time or are some rarely used? is the room a corridor to access another important room? First, make sure there is a proper space for people to walk in via the most-used door, and to walk through to the next door if needed.

A big rug would definitely pull everything together. If you are able to get new furniture, I would get rid of both sofas and get an L-shaped sofa to go on the wall opposite the window, with the L sticking out opposite the fireplace (see picture). that would leave a walking space on the back wall opposite the fireplace. And a smaller chair near the window. The rug is in blue. Also a bookcase on the wall between the two doors for toys/ books.
