Me. I was invested in it although think she dodged a financial disaster.

Missed that one. Was it a henge?

EllieBellend · 24/08/2022 23:14

I'm missing it, spent hours trying to find the house too! Hope she will find another one to love.

I think I remember the thread, I didn’t think the property was going to auction til early September though. Hopefully the OP will update.

No, it was July or august. We watched the auction with her, it was so exciting! It went for a lot over the asking price, and then she was being consoled by her man friend. I think she was of the same view a lot of other posters were, that the fact that it went for SO much more than the asking price was better than her missing out by a few grand, but don’t quote me on that.

Yes agree. A few posters pointed out if she was their mum/friend they’d be desperately convincing her not to do it. As would I. There’s definitely a bit of a romance in buying something that’s a bit of a wreck. Less so when you’re staring down having to spend half a million that you simply don’t have to keep it upright.

Aww yes, property near me in East Anglia always goes for a lot more than guide, DH was speaking to a local EA the other day who said, properties now achieve a better price at auction than with a traditional sale. Bonkers isn’t it!

@Roselilly36 it’s the same around here (Midlands) - though a lot of auction properties start ridiculously low to get more interest. This is three bed semi’s for 24k though, not listed buildings!
