Did you leave a gift for the new owners of your house?

We are moving soon and wondered what was the done thing re the new occupants of our home. Does everyone leave a gift and what would you suggest apart from champagne? Thanks.

Bottle of wine and a card with letter explaining all the details of bin collection/ best broadband in area / neighbourhood politics etc.

This thread makes me sad! We left our house (a rental) spotless, to the extent that the estate agency actually commented on how clean it was.

Our sellers left us a filthy house, massive gouged holes in the wall, shit stains in the loo, bags and bags of rubbish, a stained mattress, bashed paintwork, dirty carpets, bashed woodwork… I could cry!

Wait and see if they become last minute wankers first 🤣

We left a bottle of sparkling wine. Plus a folder with all the house info inside - indexed alphabetically with a contents list at the front .

Plus the local takeaway menus of course.

I think we left a bottle and some flowers .I agree though that most valued is a thorough clean, keys labelled , details of bin days etc and instructions for appliances.

If they were 'nice' buyers and hadn't been arseholes throughout the process then I left a card and bottle of wine as well as the standard list of neighbours, helpful hints about the area (if they were new to it) and alarm codes etc. Always left the house spotlessly clean however obnoxious the buyers were and have been lucky enough that our sellers had done the same although the last new build we had was a bit grubby as they'd done loads of sanding work just after the Big Clean! Idiots.

My sellers left a load of parking permits for the road, and a bottle of wine. They wouldn't have been able to use the permits at their next place anyway but it was very appreciated!
