Removing stair lift

Hi folks
We are moving into a house with a stair lift. Just wondering if anyone has any experience of getting one of these removed? Hub thinks he can do it but looks complex from what I read!
Thanks all

They are only screwed in the wall and some are mains electric. Shouldn’t be difficult and I would sell it as they are expensive!

Try an advert on ebay or gumtree Buyer to remove. That way the buyer can see it working which should increase the value

Annoyingly they often have zero resale value, especially if they go round corners or are bespoke to a particular set of stairs. We had to pay the installer £150 to remove the one in my late in-laws' house.

The one my MIL had, appeared to run on a rail about the diameter of a scaffolding pole.

I wonder if you could get some scaffolding poles and make a sort of one seat 'railway' round the garden out of it? 😂

Dads was just screwed to the stairs. It was a stannah who bought it back off us and came and removed it.

If it's a stannah might be worth trying that.

Definitely recommend advertising on Craig's list.
In 2019, my mum had a stairlift installed; by the end of 2020 she had no need of it any longer (no worries - she had had a good life) and the stairlift was removed. (My sister arranged it - don't know if there was a cost.) Less than a year later, my MIL needed one - and it would have been almost exactly the same as the one we had sent back.
So yes, definitely put a little effort into seeing if it can be moved and reused. I'll wager there are some folks considerably less well off than you who wold appreciate not having to pay full sticker price for a stairlift.
