Skim or fill and sand

Imagine you’ve ripped out a kitchen and are making it into another room. You’ve asked your builders to replaster it. It’s in the quote.

Now however, they think it’s better to fill and sand. In fact this is what they have started to do. I’ve just stopped them doing this and have reiterated that my expectation is to replaster.

Builders are convinced fill and sand is the way to go. Thoughts?

Because its cheaper for them than plastering? And faster?

Well quite. That’s my instinct too

Depends what condition the walls are in I suppose ? Reskimming can also bring with it more problems as well , extra depth around skirtings, architrave’s?

any pictures ? If it’s possible to fill and sand then you need to talk to them about price ?

Skirting is off anyway. I’d take a photo but they are in there.
Imagine all the counter level tiles are off, the water waste and inlets are removed. Sockets have been moved from counter height to low height. It’s a lot of filling! About 2/3 of every wall.

They have agreed to plaster it now though.
