Wrong Amtico tiles

Looking for reasonable pragmatic views please.

I ordered an Amtico floor from a reputable supplier/fitter for a 40sqm kitchen/diner. Unfortunately they didn't live up to their excellent reputation and started half a day late, now due to finish 5 days late. I had to cancel plans/ couldn't get into kitchen etc but I was prepared to let it go.

Anyway, today they have nearly finished and I've just noticed that they've used the smaller (wood effect) tiles rather than the longer, wider ones I agreed when the boss came round to do the measurement/quote. Not sure why I didn't notice it before but it's been part of a bigger, busy project and I didn't think to measure.

Annoyingly, the quote didn't state which size tiles but after some research I don't think it would have made much difference to the costs. However, I don't have anything in writing about the tile size agreed.

It's a large open area, hence the reason to go with the larger planks.

I'm waiting for a call back from the boss. What do I do? I feel stupid for not noticing the problem earlier but equally, I'm wondering if it will annoy me for years that I didn't have what I really wanted if I don't push for it to be replaced with the larger planks.

What would you do, sensible Mumsnetters?

Well you’ve contacted the boss so see what they say I guess.

i think you’re well within your rights to complain. I don’t think realistically they will take them all out and refit at no extra charge though. They might give a discount for getting it wrong. If they are honest people the boss will recognise his mistake.

I’ve done similar and had an entire bathroom fitted which wasn’t what we chose! It was very similar though so we just went with it. But felt like plonkers for having it sat around for days and not checking it was the right stuff.

Thanks @Frazzled2207 that's sounds frustrating - I feel your pain. I don't know how long ago that happened but do you still care now? For me I think that's the crucial point in terms of whether or not I push for it to be replaced. It's still a lovely floor, just not quite what I ordered. But after 5 months of renovation, I'm not sure I can cope with a battle about it!

No we didn’t give it much thought tbg after the initial week or so of being Very Pissed Off.
however I can’t be sure if you will be happy with what you have .

at the minimum I would be pushing for a discount and hopefully you can put the money towards another part of the project.

and if the company continues to be a bit shitty I absolutely would have a whinge on social media.
