Paint peeling off, plasterboard not sealed. Newbuild.

Today I've finally got on with some painting in one of the bedrooms for the first time since the house was build (new build, build in August 2020) and I've just been in to check on it and found a patch has come away from the wall. A quick Google search seems to suggest that this is a problem with builders not sealing the plasterboard before applying the first coat of paint. I've previously painted my living room without any issues.
Has anyone had any experience of this and if so were other walls affected as I'm loathed to continue painting if this is likely to affect other walls.
Thanks

You could call developer to rectify it.
or
Zinsser peel stop should do the trick.

Do you mean the paint you put on has since come away?

new plasterboard should have a wash applied ( emulsion diluted with water ) before painting with emulsion.

Have they painted direct onto the plasterboard, is there no skim of plaster??????

Once you’ve plastered, you have to put a mist coat, which is watered down emulsion, this seals the plaster and means your actual paint will adhere to the wall.

i pulled some wallpaper off a wall in my house recently and it brought all the paint underneath off, so I had to strip everything back to the plaster using a paint stripper. Then seal it with a zinsser sealant to ensure that the plaster was stable. Then I could paint as usual.

it’s not a tricky fix but if you are still covered by snagging, then get the developers to go back and fix it

The builders painted everywhere white. I've painted over the white only to have the new paint and the white underneath peel away.

Thanks all. I'll see if the developers will sort it, if not I'll buy the zinnser.

How recently did you move in ? We were told to wait a full year before painting

No, it is tape and jointed instead. Which means the joints in the plasterboard have a cost only to hide them. New builds don't have plastered walls just as they also won't have brick internal walls.

The painters should have applied a mist coat first which is watered down emulsion.

*coat not cost

Well that's just not true of ALL newbuilds hence my query.

Been in our newbuild 6-months and our walls are dry lined with a nice skim of plaster all over. Also our ground floor dividing walls are block, they only use stud walls on the 1st floor.
Visited the house several times during the build so have seen it for myself.
