Bathroom renovation timeline

Hi all, I am in the middle of a bathroom renovation following a leak from my upstairs neighbour and I am a bit concerned about how long things are taking/how slowly progress seems to be being made.

Work is being covered by insurance. I've bought the bathroom from Wickes and used one of their fitters.

At first the fitter quoted 4-6 days, but after taking off the tiles they discovered more extensive water damage so had to do some additional work.

Below is a timeline of how things have gone so far. Does it seem right to you? How much pressure can I put on the fitter to get his act together? Thanks for any advice in advance.

Monday 8th - tiles, hardware (cabinets and towel rails), skirting boards removed

Tuesday 9th - toilet, tub, sink removed. Floor tiles removed. New bathroom delivered. Phone call from fitter to say there was bad water damage behind the plasterboard and we'd have to let it dry out for a day before carrying on

Wednesday 10th - drying day

Thursday 11th - workmen returned. Plumbing work done. Toilet waste plumbed back in. Phone call from fitter to say that on opening the bathtub packaging he had found the tub damaged. Also the bathtub overflow had not been delivered. Wickes said they would deliver another tub and overflow but not till Tuesday. Work paused.

Friday 12th - Monday 15th - work paused.

Tuesday 16th --bath delivered. Bathtub taps and shower console plumbed in. Plasterboard installed. Phone call from fitter to say bathtub overflow had not been delivered but he would call Wickes.

Wednesday 17th - * *bathtub put in place but not plumbed in yet. No evidence that anything else happened today.

Right now, there are no tiles, no working plumbing except the toilet waste, no floor. I understand there have been delays for the drying and the bathtub redelivery, but otherwise I am concerned about the actual WORK being done.

Opinions? Thanks so much.

I don't think he's the problem here; Wickes are. I'd leave a sharp review on Trustpilot, at once, explaining all this and that you would strongly recommend people do not use this service from them. If you do that, I suspect that suddenly your bathroom will become much more of a priority.

Other than checking over deliveries as soon as they arrive, so he knows earlier if there are issues, I'm not sure what more he could have done (unless you suspect he is trying to dovetail two jobs, and is making excuses so he can take days off to do the other, or something?).

Really sorry you are contending with this though, as bathroom renovations are uniquely horrible, given the lack of ability to get properly clean amidst the mess - are you in the house while it's all going on, or did insurance also cover a hotel for the duration?

Thanks for the suggestion of Trustpilot, I'll do that.

I'm staying with family, so not at home, but I'm fast running out of patience with that!

I guess my question then is disregarding the days he's HAD to not work, does it sound like the work is progressing at the right pace? If on one day they installed the plasterboard, what should reasonably be expected by the end of the following day?

How much work/change can I expect in a day?
