DIY Kitchen - measurements

Hi Everyone,

I was looking at DIY Kitchens and was playing around with the online planner but found it all a bit overwhelming and I'm worried I'll get the measurements wrong!

Did anyone get someone to measure for them, if so any recommendations? Or any tips with measuring in general would be appreciated.

Thanks!

we got wickes in to do a measure then went down there to get a kitchen qoute and they gave us a print out of the plans they were £2000 dearer than DIY so we took the plans to DIY and they tweeked it with things like end panels kickboards what worktops and sink unit we wanted but we are lucky enough to live within driving distance of the showroom in Pontefract

Measure a couple of times at different heights and make sure you have someone who can hold the other end of the tape measure. Then you can be pretty certain you have the measurements correct.

This is how to measure, not sure where you are stuck. You need a 5 m metal tape measure and a helper to hold the end. Check you can read off the metres/centimetres correctly.

Get some paper and draw a rough plan of your room including doorways, corners, windows.

Then measure each part of the room and write measurements down as you go.
Start with the overall length/width in one go then do the widths of doors and windows and the distance from the nearest corner.

Then do heights of windowsills etc from the floor.
