New fireplace before renovating?

Moved into "project" house last year. Plan to renovate the entire ground floor next year.
Our sitting room has an ugly fireplace that doesnt work.
I'd like to replace it and have a woodburner for this winter.
However, the rest of the room will still be tired looking and will need to be re-done when we do the rest of the house next year.

Is this a good/bad idea?
Should we wait and have it all replaced at same time that flooring and walls are done?

You need to be aware of the 2022 Clean Air Act with regard to stoves and wood.

You must prep the back of the fireplace and the chimney. Also what will it stand on? Is the hearth suitable? Can you make it safe for any DC? Yes, you can install a stove but it’s false economy not to do all the necessary fireplace/chimney work before you install it. You must buy the right stove too.

Yes, it's fine to sort the chimney and fireplace out before you decorate the rest of the room.

Thanks. The company I'm using have done a full survey and have recommended the right stove etc, what we can/can't have.
We do have small children so definitely thinking about how to make it safe.
