Bradford-on-Avon?

We are thinking about moving to Bradford-on-Avon and wondering what people think of it? We have visited quite a lot but interested in what it’s really like to live in and what the schools are like etc. I’ve seen a few threads on here from a few years ago with people asking similar questions so wondering for those who did make the leap to move there - do you like it?

Yes- I thought it would matter as we were in the same position. Bath is patchy too ! The newbridge area is good as is Oldfield park and coombe down

I mention oldfield park because it's def in right price bracket for you- it is mixed and it's studenty but has great local facilities and a lot of student houses being sold off. My friend lives there- good solid houses

@Crikeyalmighty thanks so much for the info. Lots to think about!

Yes- you def aren't priced out of Bath but may have to look at the not quite so pretty Georgian areas- but actually they are the ones with good internet.

BOA still a good option but very hit and miss depending where you are on internet aspects

Forgot to say Weston too on edge of Bath has good internet and easy into town and def within budget

We live in Bradford on Avon, it’s a great family-friendly place to live. We like how well connected to London and Bath we are, feels quite rural but not isolated. Lots of left wing people live here but it’s depressing being in a Tory constituency.

How old are your kids?

We don’t commute by car, I would only find the traffic a problem if I had to traverse town at peak times, most of the time it’s fine and I can get out to other places without crossing the town bridge (one of the big hold ups). But it’s a frequent topic on local Facebook pages 😂

Great choice of local nurseries in town and forest school type places nearby, we go to the least “naice” one and it’s still bloody lovely.

Broadband is good where we are, I think we are on fibre but whatever it is we have both worked from home for six years with no problems.

Whoever said the worst bit is how close it is to Trowbridge needs to give their head a wobble! It’s ideal living somewhere quaint and picturesque but next to a town with a big cinema and retail parks 😂. Can cycle there or bath along the towpath and avoid all traffic and hills!

Used to live centrally in Bath, the house/location compromises worked better for us in Bradford (we wanted a big garden but would rather be close to the middle of somewhere small than on the outskirts of something big, couldn’t have afforded big garden in middle of Bath).

The primaries will have open days in the autumn and probably the secondary too, come have a look. I think the two primaries have quite different vibes. We are happy with ours. Secondary has a good reputation but I don’t know much about it. Nice grounds with very big playing fields.

If you’ll need to commute to London at all it’s worth looking at driving to Westbury and getting the train from there. Parking is £4 all day and the train is quick into Paddington.

I am happy for you to PM me with any specific questions, and I can answer more specifically.
