Hello all,

Started to ask landscapers for some quotes but wanted to see is anyone can give me an idea of costs.

small garden (new build) wooden planters down the side, artificial grass for 2/3 and final 3rd paving or Indian stone.

any ideas will be helpful. Thank you.

10k for small one

downfield · 15/08/2022 13:58

minimum I would think

chilliesandspices · 15/08/2022 14:36

My friends who are in a new build with an average new build garden had a quote of 15k for a bit of hardscaping and some beds.

Paigeworkerx · 15/08/2022 15:35

Wow I was expecting 5k.

Thank you, I’ll see what they come back with this week

We've just been quoted 2k for turf (not artificial), paving and planters. By a decent local landscaping company. New build garden.

pannikin · 15/08/2022 15:44

Also think it probably depends where you are in the country

Ariela · 15/08/2022 15:46

My best friend's neighbours spent something like £38k (big garden). I still think it looks crap - and when the ground started sinking in places where it had been re-levelled, they turned up (father and son) in brand new pickups to look/repair. Neighbour decided she'd been had over at that point.

Arthurbear1234 · 15/08/2022 15:47

Depends very much on where you live & how big your garden is. We had ours done last year & had quotes ranging from £7k-£10k for paving, planters and real grass. Artificial grass was around another £1500

Paigeworkerx · 15/08/2022 15:53

North west England, think one of the cheaper areas.

interesting the quotes wary so much.

im going to measure the garden as was never given the measurements buts It’s not large

I’d say about 15 grand. Just get some reliable tradespeople in to quote.

senua · 15/08/2022 16:09

artifical grass?Hmm

mondaytosunday · 15/08/2022 16:12

Just had mine done. 5m wide by 12m. Flagstone patio already there but I had new fencing to two sides, all fencing painted (don't worry got permission), a new one step up tiled seating area in the back, pergola, new shed, new turf, railways sleeper beds all down the two sides. A few containers. I'd say the hard landscaping was 16k and planting was another £3-4K. Looks fab (well if we had some rain - I've watered the beds but my grass looks awful).

Paigeworkerx · 15/08/2022 18:07

Just measured by garden and it’s roughly 4.1 metres down

6.2 metres across

as I said it’s a small garden

Do as much as you can yourself. Those prices seem crazy. I was quoted £500 plus VAT to de-jungle my rental property’s garden after the tenant did absolutely no maintenance for 2 years. We did it all ourselves in half a day including taking an overgrown fig tree down.

senua · 15/08/2022 16:09

artifical grass?Hmm

My thoughts too.

OP please don't get artifical grass. The damaging impact on the environment, while it's in your garden, and down the line when it's in landfill, is horrific. Its plastic. It supports nothing ecological. There's a recent post on this.

Thesummeriwas16 · 15/08/2022 21:17

I've just been quote 11 grand for a patio, paths, lawn and fencing on three sides for my garden.

IDespairOfTheHumanRace · 15/08/2022 21:18

2/3 fake grass and 1/3 paved?! That won't be a garden, it will be an environmental disaster - and a visual monstrosity to boot!

Please rethink OP and send the money creating something which has at least SOME wildlife value.

overthinkersanonnymus · 15/08/2022 21:19

I paid about £8k last year to have my new build garden done. Two decent sized patios in porcelain, 2 full length raised beds and lawn re turfed. I think my garden is about 15m2 and I'm in the north west too

Clymene · 15/08/2022 21:20

Please don't get artificial grass. It's not only horrible for the environment but it's hotter than satan's arsehole on a hot day which means you can't use it.

Our garden is about 10m x 10m on a new build. It is at the top of a slope and the housebuilder had left it with ridiculous grading. Lets get it out of the way straight away, we went for artificial turf.

Anyhow, they reckon they shifted over 20ton of soil/clay to get it graded as we wanted. They extended our patio by 2 slabs deep all the way around plus widened the path. Probably about 50-60 slabs laid. There were 40sqm of turf. All edged in sleepers to make big flower beds. We had a barbeque area as well which was set aside using sleepers.

Took a team of 2-3 men 6 days to do but they didnt work full days.

The original quote was £8K. I had an alternative quote for £5k but i preferred this company. I called him up and told him. He called me back 15mins later and said if we accepted he couldnt give a date (He would fit it in) and paid 50% upfront he would do it for that price.

We expected it to take 6-9 months but it was finished within 8 weeks. We spend every minute we can in the garden.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 16/08/2022 14:16

We paid £5.5k 8 years ago for what you've described, in the East Mids.

Make sure you get a few quotes and also see pics of their previous work.

Carrieonmywaywardsun · 16/08/2022 14:29

It'll be cheaper to get turf, but I'd say over 10k.

Grumpybutfunny · 16/08/2022 14:33

We are currently doing ours was quoted
30m2 patio -4k in Indian sandstone
35m2 of artificial grass - 3k
The rest around 20m2 levelled and gaps in the turf filled 2k

In the end

Indian sand stone 1.1k
Sand etc £600
Artificial grass £700
Tool hire £350
Turf will be about £200 including top soil to level it

If my husband budgeting is correct we will have saved the cost of a hot tub.
