House insurance between moving out and completion

hello,

i wanted to take my current home insurance with me to the next house, as there is a mid-term penalty for cancellation. I am moving out a few days before completion, which if I went ahead and took the insurance with me, means the old
house is uninsured by me. But I know that at exchange, the buyers have to have insurance in place. Is it stupid for me to not have my own insurance on the old house for 4 days? House will be unoccupied. Thanns

Talk to your insurance company. Your position is a completely standard thing that almost every seller / buyer faces.
When we last moved our insurance company simply covered both properties for the 2 weeks between exchange and completion for a notional £10.
Every company will be different but they will know what you need to do.

When we moved I rang my insurance company to ask the same, they carried it over to the new house. I told them the day we hoped to exchange and they insured us on both houses from a few days before. The stipulation was that I had to call them back within 30 days of completion.

It also insures all our belongings while in transit. It was a really efficient service when I was expecting a headache!

Just what pp said tell her take it or leave it. No.its not normal to have all those visits. I'd be saying no to her demands and telling I will go back on market if she carries on
