Hi ive just had a new patio laid. Ive had some soil on the slabs which when wet has caused a rusty looking stain. Ive tried white vinegar which did nothing. Has anyone had this issue before and what did you use to remove it please (im hoping it is removeable). I think they arw indian stone. thanks

You could try oxalic acid - try on a not very obvious bit first.

If it's soil that's caused the stain I think I'd try scrubbing with a nail brush and a good squirt of washing up liquid. Soil shouldn't have penetrated the actual stone (hopefully) so there's a chance it will scrub off. Try just in one corner first to check if it works without causing any more marks.

Otherwise, as it seems to be just one slab, you might be able to change that one. There's also the option of a strategically placed plant pot if all else fails.

Also tried bleach and same again nothing, ive ordered oxalic acid as it seems i need something stronger to shift it. Or failing that i remove the slab like suggested

I was going to suggest barkeepers friend, but having googled now realise its main ingredient is oxalic acid. Good luck!

I was about to suggest Barkeeper's Friend - @freehours beat me to it. We used it on staining on wood and it worked brilliantly.

Ive added this to my anazon basket just in case the acid doesnt work, thanks for the suggestions

It's strange that it is only the one stone - it looks as if that one is defective in some way. I'd get onto whoever supplied the stone and ask for a replacement; quickly, while they still have it in stock.
