3D waterproof wallpaper

I moved house last year, and the kitchen is about ten years old. I changed the worktops, and removed the tiles as I’ve had an upstand, but haven’t yet got round to sorting out the walls! I was planning to have a glass splashback, but it’s SO expensive, and then I considered acrylic but the colour I want is out of stock and they can’t tell me when it’ll be back (I’ve waited six months already).

im at the point where I’m considering getting ‘waterproof wallpaper’ and fitting it myself, just so I can stop being faced with bare plaster. I’m loathe to spend a lot of money on something like a splashback on what is basically an old kitchen. It’s still functional, and in good condition, but I’ll probably replace it in a few years for something that works a bit better for my needs.

Has anyone used anything like this or have any opinions? The one I’m looking at comes on a roll, I could get it for less than £100, so I keep thinking it’s worth a punt! Acrylic splashback was coming in about £600 but if I can’t have the colour I want, I’d rather spend a sixth of the cost!

If you plan to replace it anyway fairly soon, I'd be inclined just to paint the wall there with washable paint and repaint if when the paint showed wear from cleaning. Much cheaper. I'm doing that at present with mine, as until I do the floor, which may be a year or two, I can't fix the work surfaces, as the level will change. I'm just using the old work surfaces recut roughly to fit, and making do with paint above the hob. When the floor is done, I'll get and fit the worktops, and splashback.
As I can't find a worktop I like from anything available now, I'm in no rush.

I need a splashback for my sink area, however tilers are like hens teeth to find at the moment and I'm trying to keep spending to a minimum. I'm dithering at the moment between wipeable paint or some wall tiles from Jes Rose.

Thank you both, I’d not heard of Jes Rose before so that’s been useful! I’d not considered paint actually, but the walls have had some plaster come away due to removing the tiles, I’ve used filler but it’s not a great job! I feel like vinyl etc will probably be a bit more forgiving of that.

I’ve gone from wanting antiqued mirror tiles, to a glass splashback, to acrylic, to plain white tiles, now to vinyl!
