Would this annoy you… bathroom fitter

Hi all. So we’ve had a nice team of plumbers/bathroom fitters come in and rip out our bathroom and fit a new one. One day to rip out, one day to fit some Bits, two days to tile and one days to fit final bits. I think towards the end they were pushed for time as it’s only 5 days. Our bathroom is small ish.

Anyway, they’ve fit a bath panel which we had to match with our “made to order” furniture. The one bath panel has had to be cut owing to the walls in our bathroom so it couldn’t run the full length .

Trouble is, the bottom is not level with the floor the whole way across, it lifts in the middle. And the panel at the top doesn’t run parallel to the bath itself, again in the middle the panel goes inwards so the bath lips out instead of running straight - I can run my finger along both and there’s a small gap. See photo.

It’s not HUGELY noticeable but I feel it does stick out and I don’t like the idea of water potentially running under the panel. I’m guessing it wouldn’t be sealed in case it needs to be removed. I expect that maybe bath panels are hard to fit, but do you guys think this can somehow be corrected? Is it worth bringing up?

Thanks!

I think they will seal that.

@JustTheOneSwan thanks for your reply. Will have to call them back. I guess they could. And just ignore the top bit where the bath sticks out over the panel?

Just such a shame.

Also hard to know what standard to be able to expect sometimes and what’s unreasonable to bring up and what’s not. It’s aesthetics at the end of the day but you’re obviously hoping for a seamless look.

I looked at mine and it's sealed.
Having said that the bottom gap looks big as if they've cut it a bit too big somewhere and it's bowing.
I'd call them back or it's all you'll be able to see.

They need to return to fix this. Is the panel wood or plastic? Ours is wood and has been siliconed.

I think 5 days to take out and install a bathroom is so quick! This sort of job would normally take 2-3 weeks assuming replacing like for like. I wonder if they rushed it a bit?

I think it just needs sealing OP. They may also fit a plastic / waterproof skirting board around the bottom of your bath (therefore getting rid of that small gap between your tiles/panel). Worth checking with them though!

Have they cut it straight but your floor isn’t level? You would be amazed at how out of plumb some floors and walls are.

CiderJolly · 13/08/2022 07:50

From what you’ve said they have only cut the length of the panel and not the width?

So they haven’t cut either of the edges you’re referring to- is that correct?

CiderJolly · 14/08/2022 07:46

So unless they measured for the ‘made to measure’ panel then it would be out of their control regarding the width not being flush.

Who measured and ordered the panel? If they did then yes I’d ask them to sort it out but if not then it’s not the fitters fault.
