Chrome bathroom fittings - dated?

Installing two bathrooms as part of renovation. I have a shower I bought ages ago as it was a total bargain but it is chrome. So makes sense to order everything else in chrome to match. But I am wondering if it will make the bathroom look dated? Incidentally I have ordered black taps and shower for downstairs shower room (also worried that they are a fad and will also look dated in a few years but that is another story!). What is the verdict on chrome? I am looking at a modern shaped tap like the one below.

I think chrome is a classic look for bathroom hardware? Shiny and sparkly always looks good.

The matt black trend on the other hand...

We've just had chrome fitted.
I originally wanted black but many people put me off due to the limescale and harder to keep cleaning.

I dont think Chrome will ever date. It's a clean look.

Black will date and may be a nightmare for you if you have anything but the softest water. A friend had it and within 6 months she hates it as she is constantly having to descale it all the time and it looks grubby.

Chrome has been around for a long time - for a reason. In a modern design it is very attractive. I think the trend for burnished brass/copper and black fittings is far more likely to look dated very quickly.

Chrome is timeless surely? I think black will date v quickly and be a bugger to keep looking nice.

Good to hear positive chrome opinions. I am having a water softener fitted so the downstairs black taps may survive but I am going for much cheaper fittings on the basis that I might need to replace them fairly quickly.

I think go for chrome, it’s timeless. Black will date

BasiliskStare · 11/08/2022 17:51

I think of all choices chrome is the least likely to date

GuyFawkesDay · 11/08/2022 17:58

Chrome definitely

You can always have black replaceable accessories like baskets and soap dispensers etc.

Jellybean23 · 11/08/2022 18:03

Chrome is the one finish that DOESN"T date.

dudsville · 11/08/2022 18:05

Chrome has been around for decades. The style but not the metal is what will date, but make yourself happy!

Spanielsarepainless · 11/08/2022 18:10

Chrome won't date. Like white bath, bog and basin. Black will show every mark.
