Two coats of paint - cutting in question

Hi

I'm not very good at decorating but needs must and I can't afford to pay someone else to do it.

My question is... will the cutting in need to be done twice if a room needs two coats of paint?

Thanks

Myself I would take the second coat as close to the edge as possible without having to stick my tongue out to concentrate Grin

Depends on how good ajob you did the first time and what you are covering!
Just done 2 rooms here. First definitely needed cutting in again - you could see the very obviously different colour we were trying to et rid of. Next room, I was more generous with the paint on cutting in, and probably could have gotten away with just one coat, but DH wasn't having it, so I cut in again, while he rolled the second coat.

Answer is yes - my cousin is a decorator and I asked her (she's visiting at the mo)

Just use frogtape and get a crisp perfect line & then let others marvel at how accurate your cutting-in was... Grin

My mum (decorator for 40 years) only ever cuts in once. She cuts in with a paintbrush which applies a thicker coating of paint, whereas she uses a roller on the main walls so two coats of that is similar to one coat with a brush.

Once with a generously loaded paintbrush. Then roller as close to the edge as possible (and keep a damp cloth for when you inevitably roller too close and get paint on the ceiling).

That's how we do it here!

Thanks everyone. No excuse not to make a start now.....
