Toilet waste not sealed properly

I had a new toilet fitted and I really don’t think it’s been fitted correctly. Firstly I’m worried that the waste isn’t properly sealed and will smell. Secondly the worried that it’s linked so will get easily blocked.
I have attached a picture

So they have fitted a new toilet to the old waste pipe? Looks like the connection is slightly higher than it was in your old toilet so they have had to yank it up a bit. If it wasn't properly sealed it would be leaking (I speak from experience from a few weeks ago!). Waste pipes usually have a bit of flex in them so if it's working and flushing the waste away normally I wouldn't be overly concerned.

Step back and take a wider pic please. And one from the side.

Is it dripping?

@Ridingthegravytrain yes it’s been connected to the old pipe.
By not sealed I mean the edges of the old pipe are exposed rather then being fully connected with the new pipe.

@PigletJohn here’s a better picture. No dripping at all.

I don't think it matters that you can see the edges of the old pipe

soil pipe connectors are a bit like funnels. One end is big, so it can go round the incoming pipe, and one end is small, so it can fit inside the outgoing pipe.

the connector has rubber finned seals to seal against the pipe it connects to.

like this

if it is not dripping I think it is OK

you can look carefully to check that each pipe is at the same level, or lower, than the one that feeds into it (following the first law of plumbing).

in your case you also have an offset connector to change the height without an abrupt slope in the pipe.

Thanks @PigletJohn , sounds like it’s functional but looks messy which seems to be the theme of the whole bathroom at the moment!
