We currently have carpet in our living room but would like to change it to something easier to clean / looks nicer and thought of solid wood.
Underneath is concrete which is flat. Our house is old and unlikely to have a damp proof course underneath. Appears dry. We were asking for quotes including putting a damp proof membrane sheet down as that is what had at last house on ground floor and lasted fine for 10 years there but current quote is saying no will just lay it directly on concrete floor. Saying £700 to fit 16.4 sq metres.
They have been before and fitted a floor upstairs and was fitted fine but what am seeing online is that wooden floors glued to concrete only have a high fail rate. Does anyone know anything about this?
We have bought the solid wood already but don't want to spend £2k getting floor done in 1 room to find it lasts a couple of years. Only collected wood tonight so if its in no way viable we could take back and get something viable.
Thanks very much. Flooring is from Wickes the garden oak and matt lacquer on.
