Can you lay karndean over ceramic tiles with underfloor heating

Hi there
I hate our floor in our downstairs, high gloss beige tiles but they are throughout the downstairs across a huge space and we have underfloor heating with no radiators (this was all done by prior owner).
It feels like it would be a huge expensive job to rip it all up.
Can we lay karndean or amtico over the top? Will the underfloor heating become ineffective?
Thanks

No idea, but following as we also have horrible tiles (porcelain in our case) in the kitchen, I would like Karndean/Amitico laid over the top if possible. We don’t have underfloor heating though.

I would think it would be fine if kardean is ok with underfloor heating which I am pretty sure it is. The tiles will just act like the concrete in terms of conducting the heat so I can see why that would be an issue. They might want to put a levelling screed down first.

Provided the tiles underneath are in good order (ie there’s no signs of them lifting or having moved) then no problem at all. You’d need some sort of self leveller/latex etc over the top of your tiles to take out the unevenness that you get with tile and grout lines, but shouldn’t be a huge job. LVT is warmer underfoot than tiles anyway so you’d probably not notice the difference that it will make for heat travelling, any cold spots will probably feel warmer too.

A proper floor fitting will screed over tiles and lay karndean but I have no idea whether it would render underfloor heating useless.

We had exactly that done, floor was screeded to make level and then karndean fitted on top, best decision we ever made, warm, quiet and literally needs a quick mop to clean.

I have karndean with underfloor heating. I imagine if there was a layer of ceramic tiles to get through aswell the heating would be quite ineffective

Heating not I affective at all, takes a little longer to heat up, but then takes longer to cool down so we just set our timer accordingly.
