Leasehold flat - apparently notice of has not been given to freeholder

Hi, I’d appreciate some advice if anyone knows anything about this. I bought and moved into a leasehold flat 2 months ago, last week I received a letter in the post from the managing agents saying that under the terms of my lease a notice should have been served on the freeholders to basically tell them that the leasehold has changed ownership and to contact my solicitor urgently. I assumed this would have happened already as surely it’s a basic thing solicitors need to do for all leasehold properties, I have asked my solicitor and she has said she will look into it but I’m wondering how common this is and how urgent it is that the notice is served asap? I’m really worried now that there is going to be some sort of action taken against me.

I had this-clearly our solicitor knew nothing about leasehold flats in London . Only found out when I submitted a request to keep a pet and they said I wasn't registered.

Did it myself- had to pay the freeholder about £200 and fill some forms in-simple. Then they started invoicing me for there service charge!

So your solicitor didn't let them know? She should sort that out urgently and give you a discount for not doing her job properly.
