Help! Advice on roof leaks during building works

Any knowledge gratefully received
i have builders in and flat kitchen roof has been removed yesterday. They covered joist with ply and tarpaulin and fixed it down overnight as temporary cover before finishing it . But it absolutely piddled down last night (northwest 🤣) and I’ve woken up to dripping and damp ceiling patches in multiple places and leaking round my-windows. It’s soaked into the top of an armchair and dropped down onto plugs. It’s not horrendous but is alarming and a bit 😢
guys are here and putting more water proofing on and generally apologetic- the work on roof will continue Thursday- they’re waiting on kingspan etc and for it to stop raining to get the roof on.

but my question is, should I insist that they replace the ceiling in the damaged areas ? Or will it dry out and be ok? They’re clearly going to need to reseal the windows and paint the ceiling…I just don’t know if having been soaked through it will warp the ceiling boards and damage the plaster and just cause issues as it dries out after they’ve long gone. Should I insist that-the damaged areas are replaced?

Have you got a contract with them? We are having a loft conversion done and in our contract it says that the builders will make good any water damage caused by poor weather coming through the roof sheeting. I'd be looking in yours to see what it says

If there’s any tide marks appearing as it dries then yes, they should replace those boards imo.

and if there’s any bowing of boards that were soaked, replace.

Yes, the contract says they repair damage…they will do that cosmetically anyway..it’s more around do I insist they bring the ceiling down and replace the ceiling boards or will they dry ok
since I posted yesterday the textures wallpaper on walls is now lifting in a number of small places. So I have already said to them they’ll have to strip it all - it’s all unnecessary and messy work I hadn’t banked on as theoretically they should have needed to work inside at all

Make sure you take photos to document any damage.
