New kitchen cost

DH and I can’t agree on a realistic number for the kitchen! Its a tiny kitchen. 2.5m x 5m approx but the space for units is 2.5x3. we need some new appliances - hob, oven, extractor and sink. But keeping the others.

Not moving the boiler.
If we switch to an electric hob we wouldn’t need to move the gas supply.
would need new electrics
Plumbing- some minor rejigging (swapping dishwasher and washing machine and moving sink 30cm).

flooring/ painting/ tiling we can do ourselves.

wren kitchens said 6-8k for a dry fit.
The prices for DIY Kitchen and IKEA suggests we can get all the units we need for under 2k and then we’d have to pay for installation and trades.

we’re based in the north west and not in a rush (so ok to wait for sales etc). Given how small the kitchen is, are we likely to see change from £8000?

Yes I reckon with a bit of flexibilty and DIY project managing you can do it for 8k. We are in the NW and recently did the following in a 3x3m kitchen for around 13k

Blocked up door and opened up new doorway into dining room
Blocked up window and put in new window
New patio doors in dining room
Rewire kitchen
New plumbing
Plasterboarding and skim all walls and ceiling
Kitchen (from Wickes), didn't buy a new fridge but everything else new
Flooring

So much more than you're thinking of doing! I reckon about 5k went on the building work and plastering. I would budget up to 2k for the kitchen fitter, but get an electrician to do the electrics (not the kitchen fitter). New electrics means some plaster work so budget for that as well. Ask one of the trades you book to recommend others. We fitted the floor ourselves too, and did all the decorating. Don't forget that managing it yourselves will take longer so budget for takeaways - we didn't and REALLY regretted it Grin

The initial price quoted is not what you want to pay, our wren kitchen we negotiated down a lot. You can also save by doing things like getting worktops elsewhere (we saved about £2k on quartz by getting it ourselves).
