Anyone used Happybeds?

I've got my eye on this: www.happybeds.co.uk/chester-white-and-oak-wooden-bed

Slightly put off by 16% of reviews on Trustpilot suggesting issues with delivery, quality not as expected, difficult to assemble. But then the majority of reviews are excellent. I really shouldn't read Trustpilot (our alternative is Ikea, who have the worst Trustpilot reviews ever, but at least with them I know I'll be happy with the quality when it finally arrives!)

Has anyone used them and been happy / not happy?

Other suggestions for a standard double in fairly neutral style with underbed storage also appreciated!

I've used them twice for DC. Both now have full-size singles with trundle beds. They were fairly complex to assemble but one has an attached shelf thing which didn't help and one has a trundle with complicated sprung legs so neither were straightforward designs.

Quality seems good and sturdy. They gave us a choice of days for delivery and stuck to to it.

Mattress quality isn't so good. I'd happily by a bed from them again but would go elsewhere for the mattress.

Yes I've bought 2 beds from them, a double divan and a triple bunk, both excellent value for money!

JustSaying101 · 24/07/2022 20:35

Yes, I've used them. Beds are great and sturdy, fairly straightforward to put together. Delivery was terrible though. Tracking not accurate and several parts turned up during the week on different days unfortunately.

I used them last summer for a mattress (excellent) and a bed (good now it's assembled but the headboard came in individual slats which took time to put together). No problems with delivery or service at all, I'd use again.

I've used them to buy a bed for my son.
I found them to be good quality, and a well timed delivery.

We purchased a bed for our child from this company and arrived faulty. They blamed us for not assembling the bed properly and asked us to send all the videos and photos, which we did and they said safety latch issue. They keep saying that but not telling where and how. We had invited a carpenter friend to look at the bed and manual to see if there is any issues. He confirmed that everything was done properly and the bed was faulty.

After chasing for a week, they refuse to accept the faulty bed back, refused to provide the parts, and refused to provide us a refund. They are not obliging to the 14 days distance selling regulations or warranty. The bed was £399 and they want us to pay an extra £135 for the faulty parts.

We are now taking this further and going to The Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations Authorities.

Very poor customer service and very very BAD bed company.

Unhappy Beds would me more appropriate!

Truly abysmal customer service.

Purchased a bed and paid an extra £25 for a specific delivery date (to room of choice), which confirmation email states gets you a 2-hour delivery slot to be notified in advance. Date selected as first day back from holiday and last day before school begins. Received a slot of 7am-9am, so cleared the kids room the night before to make space and set the alarm early to be up and ready. At 6.02am on delivery day I get a text saying timeslot no longer applicable. I contact both Happy Beds and their delivery company (Panther) to get a revised slot. Happy Beds are incapable of providing any information and the delivery company simply doesn't respond! ..... though delivery company does have the cheek to send another text at 9.33am saying "you will receive a time slot soon" (which I never did) and also (in caps) "CHARGES WILL APPLY FOR MISSED DELIVERIES", ignoring the irony of the fact that they themselves are the ones who have missed their own delivery!!

Happy Beds disown responsibility for anything to do with the courier, and point immediately to their T&Cs, including the fact that they take no responsibility for the delivery company and the piece at the start of the T&Cs that says (and I paraphrase) if you don't like anything here then don't buy from us! - a salutory warning for anyone thinking of doing business with Happy Beds!

The bed finally arrives after 7pm, a full 12 hours after 2-hour delivery window provided opened!! In the meantime I've had to stay in all day with the kids with zero food in the house (as first day back from holiday). And while I thought I would have all day to build the bed, I end up having no time until the weekend 4 days later ..... and kids room has been cleared, in line with the instructions on Happy Beds website.

Do I get so much as a sorry from Happy Beds? No, just pointed to T&Cs saying delivery company is nothing to do with them ...... except that they chose the delivery company and they were paid the delivery charge!!

Stay well clear and buy your bed elsewhere!

They're useless. Sent the bed with no parts to assemble, a week later the parts turned up only for me to spend a whole day assembling, dissembling and then making them again because the instructions were incorrect. I flagged this to happy beds and asked for a refund but they refused.

Soopermum1 · 29/10/2023 17:50

I found them rubbish

snoozylulu · 30/10/2023 12:57

I also found them terrible – they came on the wrong day and only brought half the bed. Took another three weeks to deliver the other half.

Hiddendoor · 30/10/2023 12:59

Beds were good quality, reasonable price. Mattresses not the best.

Delivery was chaotic. Mattresses delivered at different time to beds. Left outside at a time that bore no relation to the delivery time. One mattress damaged. Asked for replacement. Got two, one filthy with oil courier refused to collect the first damaged mattress or take back the new oily one. Eventually got Happy Beds to get their courier to collect the damaged and dirty mattresses, they couldn't understand that I had 4 but only wanted 2. Genuinely refused to believe I had 4 mattresses in my possession.

I have. I actually had no idea there were bad reviews until I saw this thread.

I had no problem at all. Beds are great. They were delivered on time (although I did choose a date three weeks later as I needed to get rid of old beds first. Not sure what their express delivery is like). I altered the delivery date by a week as well with no issue.

the delivery people were a little surly but not too bad. Carried the boxes up to room or choice. Everything present and correct. They took photos of each box and ticked off against the delivery order (could this be a new thing in response to some of PPs problems?).

I need to get another new bed (different property, for a relative, on different area of country) and was planning to use them again. I wonder if their service varies between regions (different distribution centres and delivery companies). My good experience was in London.
