Bathroom Renovation

Hi all, having had a really poor experience with Wickes bathroom design service, I have been put off getting a third party in to design my bathroom. Instead, I have enlisted the help of a local joiner who will be fitting my bathroom next month (with the help of his electrician and plumbing pals). This means I am responsible for sizing up and ordering all the hardware.

I am stuck between two furniture suites.

One is shaker style, the other is not. Are shaker doors just dust traps in bathrooms?

I have attached some photos of the two options.

If it helps, I live in a Victorian period property. Which would you choose?

I got a shaker kitchen nearly 3 years ago havong never had one before.
Nothing would have dissuaded me, and I love it, but havong lived with it for a while I'd never have another - the ledger are total dust traps.
Not sure how much better a bathroom would be than a kitchen.

I used to have a shaker style bathroom and I agree - dust traps.

We are renovating and working the exact same out now. I've been looking at bathroom suites with drawers. The top drawer is U shaped to fit around the sink pipework. I absolutely hate my current cupboards where things get lost at the back, I have to bend to find things and I need to sit on the floor to clean the shelves.

For our kitchen, I've chosen a modern shaker with a beveled, 45 angle edge, rather than a 90' angle. I'm hoping this will be easier to clean. If you like the shaker look- ask whether the joiner could do a beveled edge. In a bathroom though- I'd assume that any edge would collect hair from brushing, make up dust and little beard hairs when DH trims and misses the sink! 😡I think I'm going with a smooth door for this reason.

I know you didn't ask, but we are also getting comfort height toilets. They don't look like a disabled toilet, but the extra inch in height is much easier for elderly relatives and even just for me with an arthritic knee.
