Hi! Has anyone had a new kitchen fitted & later on decide to extend the room then have current kitchen refitted into new space??
We have the potential to extend but £££ & sick of current kitchen design.

Slightly different but we had a conservatory put onto a 3yo house off the kitchen.
The run of units under the kitchen window had to be removed to form the opening and they were reused on the other side of the kitchen.
We needed 1 new unit and a new run of worktop.
Kitchen then did fine for another 15y, and tbh was still fine just a bit tired and dated. We removed it when doing a kitchen refit and a good chunk of it is now installed along the back wall of the garage for additional storage.

My main concerns would be;

  • availability of additional units when you come to extend.
  • not over spending on items which might not work in the extended kitchen or which will need yo be redone/matched (if you have made to fit expensive worktops but then need to rejig the units, or flooring or tiles which you will want to flow through).

A good builder should be able to advise you on this. You should certainly be able to get it refitted, but there are lots of considerations such as where you want water/electric/waste etc when building the extension.

If you can find one, get a reputable builder out.
