If you're doing a loft conversion do you put an electric shower in the loft or just use the existing combi boiler?

Is it safer to have an electric shower so that you at least have something to wash with if you ever had problems with the boiler?
Plus it reduces the risk of water pressure problems if multiple people showering etc.
You'd need an immersion tank, I guess it's going to cost more if you need to keep that warm but it could be on a timer.
Any thoughts?

We have a combi, but it was put in knowing we were doing the loft so is pretty big. Water pressure not an issue. (Have 4 bathrooms)

It depends on the size of the combi, as they can lose pressure the higher up the house you go, a lot of loft companies will suggest a pressurized system, but if you don't want to do and the plumber doesn't think the pressure will be good enough with the boiler, then an electric shower might be the best solution.

We had upgraded our boiler the year before knowing we were going to do the loft and needed that.

Some friends of mine have put an electric shower in their loft conversion. The rest of the hot water in the house runs off the combi. It works well. The shower heats up the water as it goes so there is no separate tank of hot water. They said that it cost a bit to run the electric cable to the loft to wire it in as it needed a special one.
