Are my buyers being unreasonable?

Sold my house a few months ago. Have responded to conveyancing promptly. Their mortgage surveyor has been and is satisfied with the set price. They now want to send over an electrician friend to assess our electrics.

DH has initially agreed to it but it's a time when we'll be away at a wedding and only my 16 and 13 year old DD's will be here. I'm
Not really happy with this idea on so many levels.

Am I within my rights to say no?

No I wouldn't be happy with this either. I would ask them to reschedule for when you would be there. I think some tradesmen would be unhappy in this situation too.

Unlikely the tradesperson would enter the house is no over 18 in there unless empty

BastardtheCat · 23/07/2022 08:51

Thanks both. I'll definitely reschedule.

What about the fact that they are sending a friend? Rather than an independent tradesman. Would this be a problem for you?

No no no

They don't go in your house unless you are there and happy for them to do so.

Even less so if its just a friend

TizerorFizz · 23/07/2022 08:55

No. It’s not really an issue. Lots of people have friends who are electricians. Perhaps she/he might do any work they envisage? Mates rates etc? However you should be there but your DC are home alone whoever calls round. Scheduled or not.

Volterra · 23/07/2022 09:35

Fine to be their friend but not to come when your DC are there without you.
