Hi all,
this is all new to me so any help is appreciated

we had an offer accepted on a house yesterday morning, we have been told by EA to provide ID which is fine, our broker already verified this our passports etc, can our broker send it over to them verified or do we still need to hand it into the branch to be photocopied?

we have appointed a solicitor we are waiting for a call back this morning to get forms completed, the EA needs solicitors details and then this evening we have a meeting with our broker to narrow down the lenders to get the mortgage application submitted, EA also need proof of this, I am freaking out because none of this info has been sent to EA yet I feel behind already but we only got the offer yesterday morn, if I get the details to them by the end of this week is that still ok?

also does the broker do all the chasing between EA/ Solicitors etc? or is it down to us and the broker?

thanks x

Hi
First time buyer here also
Your solicitor will need copies of your ID also
Also mine asked for proof of NI number and address.
Good luck

Hi OP, it's up to your EA whether they accept certified copies of your ID from your mortgage broker. I expect they'll probably ask you to bring the originals in to their office tbh unless you are miles away. PP is right that your solicitor will also want ID too and that will be the originals.

Main thing is to get the solicitors instructed first and get their name over to the EA, along with ID and whatever proof of deposit they want to see. Then do the mortgage application after that.

A mortgage broker will chase the progress of the mortgage application with the lender but I wouldn't expect them to be in contact with the EA or solicitor, that's your job.

When we bought as FTBs we found everything so daunting as there is so much to it and you don't know what you don't know!! We also didn't want to be those nightmare FTBs that were over cautious about relatively minor things, or were holding things up because we were doing things in the wrong order etc, so I did a LOT of research into the buying process

I found this website particularly helpful, it's got a bit more 'sales-y' since we bought but the guides are fab (make sure to look at the links at the bottom as they have guides on various things such as explaining the full conveyancing process)
