House on gated communal driveway with just one other house

We’re house hunting and have seen our dream house. However it’s at the end of a gated driveway, there are only two houses opposite each other. We will soon have four cars and the actual parking area for each house isn’t huge -3-4 cars at a push. So I’m wondering what happens when visitors come round, where do they park?! The road the development is off isn’t great for parking as it’s mostly houses with dropped kerbs. I’m not sure I’d like being ‘tucked away’ either. And what happens with deliveries? The house is perfect apart from this. Does anyone have any advice or experience? Thanks

The parking sounds a nightmare. Also it sounds like a burglary target.. Behind gates, must be something worth pinching.

Is there scope to make more parking by changing the landscaping. Gated wouldn't bother me, single drive would if it means it's regularly blocked or the neighbours think they own it all.

We live at the end of a long private drive shared with one other house. Deliveries are no problem. They just come down the drive and go back out. It’s ideal if there is space to turn around but otherwise they’ll just reverse. As for parking though, four cars for one house is quite a lot of cars. Most people won’t have more than 2. If you have guests, you’ll just have to park a car somewhere else for the duration.

How likely is if that you’re going to find a house with space for 5-plus cars on a driveway at once? It’s something DP and I laugh about when we’re back visiting the in-laws in Michigan where cars are king and every other house seems to have at least one garage space per bedroom; but even there your visitors park on the street if there’s no driveway space left, even if that means a few houses away.

If you have deliveries then I’d imagine you know about it in advance and you rearrange your cars so the truck can get in. That’s what we did when we lived rurally and had driveway access to the house.

The parking could be a nightmare. How many cars does the other house have?

for deliveries how do the gates open? If you are out can Amazon access the lane to leave packages? Is there a buzzer system and will your constantly get buzzed when your neighbours are out.

my Last house had a shared driveway and I wouldn’t do it again. There was room for two cars per house and one visitor. Visitors parked really badly and constantly blocked me in.

Perhaps you/your visitors could walk/cycle/take public transport?

😂

if you are expecting visitors is there somewhere round the corner you could move your cars to for the day? On road parking somewhere.

Sounds great tbh OP. Is this house selling for a premium? I'm sure parking will sort of work itself out.
