Replacement windows - colour choices and different front & back??

Looking at replacement windows and wondering about colour choices.

I currently have dark wood stained windows, doors and conservatory.

Won't be replacing the conservatory.

Was looking at white windows, with a white upvc back door and a coloured composite front door.

Now wondering whether I should keep the back windows a dark wood colour (insides all white) to match the back of the house with the conservatory.

There are 2 smaller side windows, towards the back half of the house and one above the other. If I have the back dark wood colour I'd have these the same.

Attached pictures are how it is now, choices to follow.

Front.

I like the pale blue door, to match my fence.
Can't get this is a factory finish from one supplier I've had a quote from, it would have to be an applied paint finish - which reduces the guarantee from 10 to 5 years. Am checking with the other supplier.

Other option I like is the navy blue.

Back

Would have the upcv door the same colour as the windows, but couldn't work out how to change it on the visualiser.

I don’t much like wood upvc windows but in your case it looks far better than white. It really suits the house.

I think black would look good too with your bricks.

ImShrunk · 17/07/2022 11:27

Not really a fan of bars on the panes either but again in your case it looks better. It looks more balanced.

Iheartmysmart · 17/07/2022 11:34

The white finish makes the house look all window in my opinion. The dark effect is much more flattering overall and the style you’ve already got really suits the house. I’d be tempted to replace with similar and then have a coloured front door. You could then pick that out with hanging baskets/pots to tie it all together.

Interesting, next door had theirs done last year and have a single split bar (pic is single side ensuite window)

Everest do pale blue doors. Yes, I'm looking at doors right now, and that is one I've got marked!

I think the white windows look fine with the brown conservatory, so go for whatever you prefer.

Badtasteflump · 17/07/2022 11:39

Composite doors can be made in a huge range of colours as factory standard - roughly where in the country are you?

Badtasteflump · 17/07/2022 11:40

But in answer to your question, I think all the windows look better in a darker colour, and the door could be any colour you like.

MrsOwainGlyndŵr · 17/07/2022 11:42

I prefer the darker frames too. And I don't think you can have white at the back with a dark conservatory. It looks all wrong.

Chasingsquirrels · 17/07/2022 11:42

I wonder how much of the "all window" effect is because I've basically just stuck them on with a visualiser - and they do look STUCK ON.

Next door (which are pale green not white, which would make a difference) certainly don't look all window, and definitely lighten the overall effect.

Also meant to say, I wouldn't have all those bars on the windows, standard panes would look better.

Cambridgeshire.
1 quote from local company who get their doors from door.co - they have the blue as a prestige colour (as pic)

1 quite from bigger local company who manufacturer - they don't do the pale blue as standard but will apply as a spray finish which reduces the guarantee

I'd have stone coloured windows and doors mid way between the tone of the windows and the conservatory

White is classic but I think will disappear in time. Any colour you choose will date. So for me it's cream/stone windows which I think will age better.

stormelf · 17/07/2022 12:42

I like the dark windows that you currently have but like the style of window your neighbours have. The colour of your neighbours windows are also nice. If you do decide to go for white I would just have white at the front and dark at the back. We have white windows front and back but the front are expensive sash style while the back are standard casement and it's never bothered me that they don't match (we do live in a terrace though)

Chasingsquirrels · 17/07/2022 12:49

There is a cream option, which is stone-ish?
I hadn't considered that, but will try it on a visualiser - it would be less harsh than the white, and might tie in better with the conservatory.

I do like my neighbours colour, but think it would look odd with the conservatory and already have a sage green kitchen, and sage walls in the hall stairs & landing. I don't want an overload of sage green!

Am planning to have balustrading round the patio at the back the same blue colour as the piece already there and the front fence. It was all taken down last year for me to paint but u haven't got round to it yet...

Your style of house include color of brickwork suits the dark colours. I think the white (and the green of your.neighbours) really cheapen the house. The dark blue front door is classy, the pale blue doesn't work. My opinion only and you should get what you want.
