Shafted by greedy vendors

So pissed off, upset, angry tonight. Not stopped crying.
We had viewed a property about 2 weeks ago with an agent before it went on the market. The vendors agreed on our asking price offer and it didn't go on the market.

We've got things moving with solicitors, applied for our mortgage, even started downsizing our garage belongings as they'd converted the garage. Then today, the fuckers decide they want to list with another agent for more money, not even giving us a chance to renegotiate our offer.

I know they are perfectly within their rights to do so, but can't help but feel it is a really shitty move after accepting an offer from us. If they had not been happy with the offer initially, they could have declined it. I appreciate that sometimes people need more money in order to move but surely you do your sums before you accept an offer?

As it stands, I'm tempted to pull ours off the market but then would leave our buyers in same situation.

Has anyone had any similar situation where they have been shafted by a vendor and gone on to find a better house?

If it’s on with another agent now and you would have offered more money if they had given you the chance, what’s to stop you offering more money now via the new agent?

The fact that they are snakes. The house could be on the market for 100k less and I'd not offer!

If you take the emotion out of it then it would make sense to contact the new agent with an offer you can afford but I understand that sometimes things get very emotional with house buying & selling.
If I was the vendor and realised I had to increase the price I would at least have given the current buyer first refusal, though I would be expecting them to refuse through anger.

@PissedOffNeighbour22 that is complete cheeky fuckery and insanity all rolled into a big ball of never gonna happen Grin

Weirdly ours felt the porch was falling off and that the roof might need doing. They spent an hour looking round the house with both sets of parents and a builder who apparently came up with a quote of £50k.

When we said no to splitting the costs with them, they rocked to the core.

We also had another pair of CF after this before getting lucky with a landlord.

I think you need to calm down and try to be less emotional, what with all the lashing out and non stop crying. This is purely a business transaction and they’ve decided to try to the open market. It may not sell. You can keep your offer on the table for a short period or increase, or of course you can bite your nose off to spite your face, and refuse offer but you really only hurt yourself. I know it’s hard but you do need to calm down.

do you have someone with you who is able to handle this without emotion and whocan support you?

Totally shitty behaviour OP, tell them to stuff it, the market is starting to change they may regret it. How would you ever trust them now?

Roselilly36 · 12/07/2022 16:47

Yes I agree it’s a business transaction, but you still need to know where you stand, some people can’t do a straight deal.

Underscore21 · 12/07/2022 19:10

Oh well, at least you haven't lost a couple of thousand pounds on wasted surveys & searches. It could be far worse OP.

From what I've learnt so far bother buyers and sellers do shitty things! At least you've been told what's happening, abit odd they won't renegotiate though, think I would
Stop any searches at this point.
