Does anyone live there or have lived there?

My son is going to move there with his partner. They’re mid twenties.

What’s it like?

I did - going back 20 years now. But it was a fantastic place to live. Transport links were great, so close to Victoria and could walk along the river to South Bank / city.
Loved it. Would go back if I could ever afford it now!

Surprisingly quiet and residential part of Central London, by the river, near Westminster and Chelsea. Some big blocks of social housing (Churchill Gardens) a lot of which is probably now private. I'd say pretty good value place to live centrally albeit with not much going on particularly exciting in Pimlico itself. But obviously central London on your doorstep.

My brother lives there and loves it. He and his partner are in 40s and no kids and have an amazing time. Always out in gorgeous restaurants, at the theatre, beautiful walks. It's a lovely place x

If I could afford it I'd love to live there. Surprisingly quiet and peaceful neighbourhood be it really central. Lots of young civil servants and political types live there because it's convenient for Westminster. Lots of big old quality ex-council stock (Guinness, Peabody mansion blocks) and gorgeous 30s mansion blocks. You have no need to worry about your son 🙂

Pretty posh!! I couldn’t afford it - but would move there if I could

lots to do too.

Nothing at all for you to worry about - you will probably love it yourself

Its nice. Though a surprising number of youth hostels/budget hotels on Belgrave Road. Proximity to Victoria station I guess.

My Nan lives there and it was awesome! Very quiet back then and quirky, her local supermarket shop was at Peter Jones

It's fun but weird. Lots of mansion houses some of which are beautifully kept for people who don't spend a lot of time in them, others which are decidedly run down and now house transients and pop up brothels, undoubtedly with links to trafficking - it's part of Westminster Council and close to what people think of as Westminster so it caters for the secondary needs of a certain type of MP. The same landlords who run these places also rent out to backpacker beer hounds plus a substantial number of boho types who've either been in the area a long time or know people who have and get introduced to it that way. A lot of the big blocks along Vauxhall Bridge Road are still council and can be rough - Tachbrook Street is kind of the frontier to that side of it. It's an interesting mix. Fairly central but can still take longer than you'd think to get to eg the city or west end. Handy for the Albert Hall and museums though.

I worked on the Tachbrook Street Peabody Estate about 20 years ago and it was a lovely place.

I lives right by Pimlico tube station from 2014-2015. Moved in with my then boyfriend (now husband) when we were 25 and starting our first jobs in London. I loved the area and would have stayed but we couldn’t afford to buy anything other than a shoebox and we’re starting a family.

There are a couple of dodgy estates that I wouldn’t live in or want to walk through alone after dark (mostly Churchill Gardens) but on the whole it’s got a relatively quiet (for London) feel while still being easy reach to the centre and is full of young professionals.

The central bit has some nice pubs and restaurants (A Wong is amazing). Super quick to walk to Victoria and we enjoyed going down to Brixton to eat out at the weekends.

To update, they love living there! They did mention that there was a big estate a few streets over, but they feel safe enough. Plus, they say, the estate has a greggs and a chippie, which is a welcome sight in their part of London

I lived in Dolphin Square nearly 20 years ago. It’s very lovely but very typical of how London can be such a massive mix. That council state was across the road or two from Dolphin Square - which is incredibly posh. Never had any problems and I wouldn’t necessarily see a CE as a problem.
