Valuation without Memorandum of Sale

The agent dealing with the sale of my property has advised that there's a valuation which has been booked in (I assume via the mortgage lender) but no sight of the memorandum of sale. Is this normal?

I was sure when I purchased that I needed the memorandum of sale to be sorted before we could sort the valuation. I'm a little concerned that the buyer is going to go back on the agreed purchase price.

according to this - you wouldn’t see it. Having just bought a property I can confirm we never saw one. The reason given is confidentiality of both parties information.

The memorandum of sale comes from the vendors/estate agent. Is there a reason why you haven’t moved forward to sort it out? We got ours within about 5 business days of having offer accepted.

The problem is, my solicitor does not have the memorandum of sale. It's not me that needs to see it but I'd imagine we need some proof the buyer is serious and wants to buy it before they arrange their valuation?

I've agreed everything from my side, definitely not me who's dragging it out!

Just had a look and it sounds like the the agent or the buyer might be slowing this down.

Have you asked the agent why there isn’t one? I’d suggest you say there can be no valuation till their solicitor has been formally appointed - till then you can’t take them seriously as a prospect!

Ah that makes more sense!!
you would think wouldn’t you? We had to prove we had a mortgage in principle and funding for the deposit. We had this already to go, so took 20mins? to do at the estate agent and then the solicitors office. All done within 24 hours of offer being accepted, survey within a week, bank happy etc etc.
and yes, we did negotiate on price as a result of the subsequent surveys, which the primary survey suggested we obtain.
