Moving to Luton - advice?

Hi all

We are going to move to Luton soon, and wanted some advice on good areas and areas to avoid. We have children so are conscious on being near good schools and diverse communities for them to grow up in.

so far, we know Stopsley/Wigmore side is better.

Can anyone advise on Turners Road North? Is that a good place if we moved there?

TIA!

Sorry I don't know the area but bumping for you. I used to live in MK which is a concrete jungle so avoid if you like traditional towns. St. Albans is nice but very expensive, hopefully you'll get some answers soon.

St Albans and Luton are like fine wine and beer. Not the same and not in the same county!

Most of Luton is diverse! If you need schools, which ones have vacancies? Look at Ofsted reports. Dunstable is nicer in my view. Take a drive around and see what areas you like.

Avoid Marsh Farm and Bury park.

I lived in Luton a few years ago and I enjoyed it, as I had moved from a smaller town with not much to do. There was always stuf happening

The Leagrave side is also worth looking at. As is Bramingham.

Schools wise, for older children Challney Boys and Challney Girls both v good. Lealands good. Sixth Form College is excellent.

For younger children, I would think about the size of school you want because while there are still some one form entry schools, there are also some huge 1000+pupil primaries.

Turners Road North is okay, it is near the old 'Tin Town' so not quite as nice as Stopsley and Wigmore themselves but it's still perfectly okay. It's a short walk from the facilities and schools in Stopsley so that has to be a good thing.

Oh, I should mention that there used to just be Turners Road before the A505 Vauxhall Way was built and split it to North and South (there is now a footbridge connecting them). There are plans to turn that stretch of the A505 into dual carriageway - it may be years and years in the future or it may never happen knowing our local council but thought it worth mentioning.

im luton born and bred. (although i moved last year to lincolnshire).
avoid marsh farm and bury park like the plague. other places to avoid are hockwell ring, some sides of leagrave and alot of houghton regis (although that might be considered dunstable). personally i would also avoid anywhere that is very close to luton town.
stockwood park area is nice, sundon park used to be nice but is riddled with crime now. barton hills is nice, warden hill is also nice.
someone above said bramingham is nice, which is true. however with it boarding marsh farm, alot of the riff raff end up causing trouble there and your catchment will be lea manor (for high school). which is a terrible school.
bushmead is nice.
stopley and wigmore are nice.
in every area you pick there will be a good side and a bad side.
i would say though, crime is pretty bad throughout luton
