Tell me about Beckenham!

Looking to move from zone 2 London, and I have been told to consider Beckenham but haven’t been before.

Tell me about it! What are schools like, specifically secondary? (Not a fan of the grammar system.)

What’s the demographic like? DH and I both work in the arts and are politically liberal. Would we find likeminded people in Beckenham?

It’s within our budget, it seems to have a lot of green space around it when I look at googlemaps (!), so my interest is definitely piqued!

A few people have mentioned Penge's arty connections. It has literally hundreds of examples of street art. The installations are co-ordinated by local but feature artists from all over the world. Many have come to London especially to contribute. You can find out more here londoncallingblog.net/

The parts West of High Street have already moved away. Copers Cope and Kelsey Park is on the way out. And over time it'll keep moving as more and more younger and liberal people move in from central London.

The council elections this year showed a pretty strong shift.
